How a Talk Can Transform Someone’s Life
CEO and founder of Ignite JB Owen had one of her own Ignite Moments™ sitting in the crowd, listening to a speaker deliver a moving talk. Because of the impact of that speaker, she realized just how vital feeling seen and heard was and how speakers could inspire their audience and encourage them to learn, feel, and be seen by the stories they share.
Here is JB’s story of how a talk changed her life:
I was sitting at a conference while a speaker was up on stage telling a personal and emotional story. Speaker after speaker came up on stage, and as they expressed their life-changing moments, I saw how those moments did not define them but refined them, catapulting them in a new and more amazing direction. As I witnessed their vulnerable sharing, I realized the fundamental and essential need everyone has to be seen, feel heard, and belong.
I also noticed how a single powerful moment put them on a new trajectory in their life and Ignited a path toward something greater, ultimately a more incredible version of themselves.
When each speaker finished, the crowd stood up and applauded. Many received hugs when coming off of the stage. Telling their most intimate moments of heartache and sorrow didn’t repel the audience; it brought them closer and formed a new level of authentic connection.
The idea for Ignite came to me because of this powerful moment.
